If you were a child of the Nineties, the chances are that you sang along to – and still do – the smart, sassy songs of Alanis Morissette. You may even have a few music t-shirts featuring the Canadian-American singer-songwriter, and look wistfully back on those days.
Well the good news is that the iconic artist has recently announced that she has a new album due to come out this summer. In June, according to Rolling Stone magazine, Morisette fans will reap the rewards of a marathon songwriting session which has taken place over the past few months as she looks after her new son, Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway, and shares creative duties with husband Mario Treadway.
Reports reveal some of the track titles, such as Havoc, Celebrity, Guardian and Spiral, while the singer’s love of quirky lyrics does not seem diminished – one of the lines from Celebrity reads: “I am a tattooed sexy dancing monkey.”
Speaking to the magazine, Morisette admitted that “Yes, it was inspired by specific people.”
“But I’ll never talk about that, ’cause it’s just rude.”
The new album, as yet untitled, will be her first since Flavors Of Entanglement in 2008.
