Flamboyant KISS frontman Gene Simmons finally tied the knot with long-term partner Shannon Tweed yesterday, after 28 years together.
The 62-year-old bassist and hard rock legend – whose heavily made-up face has been seen on millions of music t-shirts has had two children. Nick is now 22-years-old, while his younger sister Sophie is 19.
The wedding itself took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel before a 400-strong audience of family and friends. The happy couple read out self-penned vows outside on the crystal lawn. Fellow KISS members were of course in attendance, as were other famous pals, such as Playboy octogenarian Hugh Hefner and TV host Bill Maher. The newly-married couple’s first dance was not a KISS rock classic, sadly – instead daughter Sophie sang a sweet rendition of Etta James’ love song At Last.
Simmons recently told Entertainment Tonight why he was finally getting wed, saying: “It is time for me to grow up. I’m 62. I’ve been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time. and there’s nobody I’ve ever said I love you to. I even find it difficult to say ‘I love you’ to my mother. But I love Shannon with all my heart and all my soul, and always will.”
