Formerly a member of celebrated rock group The Smiths, with his image celebrated on a million music t shirts, guitarist and singer Johnny Marr has begun writing and recording songs for his group The Healers, despite the fact he is currently the only member of the band’s line up.
The Healers released an LP in 2003 entitled ‘Boomslang’ with the original line up of Alonza Bevan, Lee Spencer and Zak Starkey on board, but did not record a follow up album.
Speaking in a recent interview with Billboard.com, Marr said : “I just want to write more than enough material to avoid ducking back into the studio to record a follow-up album. I want to take advantage of this point and when I set sail I want to set sail for awhile.”
Marr, who was also a member of rock band the Cribs until 2008 after his time with The Smiths and The Healers first LP went on to say that working on the score and OST to the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Inception’ has had an assured effect on his song writing abilities and is looking forward to releasing the new Healers material by 2012.
