Pouring rain failed to dampen the spirits of tens of thousands of revellers at the Isle of Wight Festival last night, as they wrung out their music t-shirts and went crazy to a blistering set by indie rockers Kasabian.
The UK band entertained over 70,000 fans with a charged set, including the hit ‘Shoot The Runner’ and the title track from Kasabian’s new album ‘Velociraptor’. They opted for a spectacular finish – their 2009 hit single ‘Fire’.
Another artist who reassured the dripping crowd was former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, taking to the stage with his new band Beady Eye. Wrapped up in an overcoat, he told the revellers that they “still look pretty good, mate,” before playing a set of his own tracks, such as ‘The Roller’ and ‘Millionaire’ and closing with a cover version of World of Twist’s ‘Sons of the Stage’.
