The mighty New Order revealed this week that they plan to perform their first live show in five years in Brussels next month.
Fans of the group, which emerged from the ashes of Joy Division following the suicide of frontman Ian Curtis, will be digging out their music t-shirts and heading to the Continent for two gigs – in Brussels on 17 October and another in Paris the next night. Both shows are benefits for film producer Michael Shamburg, who has produced many of their videos and is seriously ill.
Singer and guitarist Bernard Sumner told BBC6 that “Michael has been with us from the very start. Initially he was in charge of Factory New York, then became creative producer for all our early videos.”
“Michael is very ill and needs constant medical attention. We want to help him, and these shows will contribute financial support towards his ongoing care.”
