The news that high-camp rockers The Darkness are reforming has caused a frenzy among fans – that even frontman Justin Hawkins admits to being “gobsmacked” by.

The band split up over three years ago, but are dusting off the spandex and hairspray in order to play this year’s Download Festival and record a brand new album.

Writing on Twitter, Justin responded to the hundreds of messages of support from happy Darkness fans, saying: “Thanks for all the lovely messages of support. I’m gobsmacked and overwhelmed by all the positivity in and around The Darkness!”

Still in the world of hard rock and heavy metal, giants of the genre Iron Maiden announced this week that they are releasing a new greatest hits compilation, on 23 May.

The “From Fear To Eternity,” compilation features Iron Maiden’s favourite tracks from the past 20 years, and represents their fourth greatest hits album.
